Program Space Requirements

Thinking of getting started with a GMB program, but not sure whether you've got enough space?

That's ok! We'll usually recommend an area that's about 3 meters by 3 meters. But for some of our programs, you can train them just as effectively in a smaller space and we encourage this. There are a lot of ways of utilising small spaces at home, so don't be put off if you don't have tons of room. We have a detailed article with helpful tips on how to make the most of your space at home.

Check out what your options are for space with each of our programs:

✅  Elements can be done in very small spaces
✅  Integral Strength can be done in a small space, and some movements work better outside
✅  GMB Mobility can be done in very small spaces

What kind of surface should I use for training?

First off, let us preface this by saying that you don't need special mats for training whether at home, outdoors or at the gym. Any surface that is comfortable (and safe) for you to move around on is great! Carpet, gym flooring, or even grass are all good options.

But if you've got hard floors and you want to get something softer to cover them, then puzzle mats can be a great option, especially if you're training in a small or odd shaped space. You can find them online or at most sporting goods stores. Order as many pieces as you need and then fit them together to make the right sized mat. If you need the space for other things (like living) then you can just pull them apart and store them out of the way after you are done. 👍🏻
